The England World Cup Squad

The World Cup in Qatar starts this weekend and the teams have announced their 26 man squads. The Countries that are expected to have top quality teams have announced a depth of talent and strength across the teams.

Argentina have announced the likes of Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, Angel di Maria as three big names in their squad and as they are unbeaten in 35 matches in international football they are definitely one to watch this World Cup.

France have possibly the strongest squad in the tournament, Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Raphael Varane are the big names. A great mixture of youth and experience front the France team and with notable exceptions from injury to Paul Pogba, Ngolo Kante and most recently Christopher Nkuku have opened space for the likes of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni to lead their midfield.

Netherlands have an experimental side with the likes of Cody Gakpo and Xavi Simons lining up alongside staples in the Dutch side like Memphis Depay and Virgil Van Dyke. They will be looking to surprise people this tournament.

Spain play their first tournament in years without Sergio Ramos and Gerard Pique at the helm. David De Gea being the other notable player left out the squad however with young stars like Pedri and Gavi in the midfield they will no doubt be a strong side overall.

Portugal will be looking to put the trials and tribulations of Cristiano Ronaldo behind them and produce something special this World Cup, their team is stacked with talent with Joao Cancelo, Bernardo Silva, Joao Felix, Bruno Fernandez and of course Cristiano Ronaldo however will Ronaldo's untimely interview with Piers Morgan and troubles off the field with his team Manchester United cast an unwanted shadow for the Portuguese team? We will have to wait and see.

The story of the World Cup so far has to be the Williams brother, Inaki and Nico. Both brother play for Athletic Club Bilbao, from Ghanaian decent their parents moved to Spain and they both came through the academy at Bilbao. Inaki Williams the older of the two brothers has been chosen to represent Ghana at the World Cup and Nico Williams has been selected to represent Spain in one of the feel good stories surrounding this years tournament.

England's 26 man squad has been announced and it goes as follows: Jordan Pickford, Kyle Walker, Luke Shaw, Declan Rice, John Stones, Harry Maguire, Jack Grealish, Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Kieran Trippier, Nick Pope, Kalvin Phillips, Eric Dier, Conor Coady, Bukayo Saka, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mason Mount, Phil Foden, Ben White, Jude Bellingham, Aaron Ramsdale, Callum Wilson, James Maddison and Conor Gallagher.
